Moving Mountains

The motivation behind all our spiritual activity should be with the end goal of building our relationship with the Father.  We often speak about blessings and miracles, however unnless we are in crisis, the focus should never be about the miracle itself, but about having an encounter with God and the changing of our perspective. The miracles and the blessings are merely the natural and supernatural by-products of a genuine relationship with God.

Whenever we are exposed to the supernatural reality of the kingdom of God, it is for the purpose of demonstrating the Fathers love and helping us to see life from heaven's perspective so we can re-shape how we view reality.  Therefore, when we have seen God's supernatural provision, we lose the right to continue seeing things from a purely natural and earthly perspective.

God would rather work through you than for you….

We are not saved to go to heaven but we are saved to bring heaven to earth...  The scriptures tell us that to whom much is given, much is required!  However, our perspective on what we have been given will determine the level of responsibility we accept!

God’s purpose for our life is clear! It is to preach the Gospel saying “the kingdom of God is at hand”  In other words… change the way you think because the reality of heaven is here right now within your reach and if you don’t renew your mind to see things from heaven's perspective, you will be this close and still miss it!  We should then demonstrate what we are saying by healing the sick, casting out demons, cleansing the lepers and if necessary, raising the dead. In other words, demonstrate the current reality of the kingdom and the immediate benefits of salvation.   Jesus said that the kingdom is not here or there but within us… The kingdom is righteousness, peace and Joy…  it is not a convincing argument nor is it intellectual  understanding, the kingdom of God is the demonstration and power of heaven’s reality,  and the  manifestation of that power is God’s seal of approval

We have a responsibility to uphold…

Jesus didn’t suffer and die just so we could live a mediocre life, therefore we seek deliverance and healing etc to ensure that Jesus got what he paid for!  The Kingdom is the realm of God’s domain, therefore when the kingdom of God touches someone who is sick, sickness dissapears because in His domain, there is no sickness. When the kingdom of God touches someone who is poor,  poverty has to go because there is also no poverty in His domain.  We need to aim to enter His domain and abide / live there consistently and carry that reality with us wherever we go so that His kingdom is there also.

We also need to become proficient in seeking first, the lordship and rulership of Jesus (i.e. become proficient in experiencing life in His domain). Therefore the purpose for us focusing on our mountains being moved is to do just that.. to bring heaven’s reality into our daily lives and experiences.

Miracles Vs Blessings

At this point, it’s important to clarify exactly what we are looking for as we move forward in persuit of God's supernatural, and understand that the Blessing of God is more important than a miracle!  A miracle is a temporary interruption to the natural and spiritual laws that God Himself has put in place to govern our lives, and therefore shows that a miracle is not God’s preference or best for us. Miracles are appropriate when we are in a crisis but we cannot control when they happen, this is down to God’s Mercy and Love.  The blessing however, (healing, health, prosperity, deliverance etc) is permanent,  has already been guaranteed, and has already been provided through the finished works of Christ. It only remains for us to believe and receive.  As we move forward in seeking to remove the mountains standing in the way of our progress, it's important to recognise the difference between miracles and blessings so that our expectations are properly placed. Remember, God would much rather work through us (as mature believers demonstrating the reality of heaven) than He would work for us (as those who are weak or in crises).  For further clarification, it’s also important to understand that the natural is not opposed to the supernatural. Natural laws are supposed to complement or cooperate with the supernatural laws, and we are supposed to be the agent that connects the two!

The initial call of God to the sinner is a call to repentance, but  our initial repentance is only the first evidence of dying to self.  Following the new birth experience, the first work of the Holy Spirit is to bring us to a place where we are willing to die to self completely. This is a reflection of our continued repentance.  Continued repentance and renewing the mind are one and the same. Most Christians repent enough to be saved but not enough to experience a renewing of their mind and its life transforming result of opening the door to the reality of the kingdom.

Our initial step in moving mountains is therefore a call to a total surrender to the Lordship of Jesus and a commitment to a complete dying to self (i.e. continued repentance).  Only then, as we lay 'self' on the altar of sacrifice and actually become that living sacrifice in reality, will the fire of the Holy Spirit consume us fully, making room for the reality of the Kingdom experience.  As this experience becomes our reality, we need only open our mouths in verbal agreement to release this internal reality (heaven’s reality) into the earth.  At this point, any remaining mountain standing in our way will be removed  to make way for the superiour reality of the kingdom.

Our First Challange

Covenanting with God

There are many noted biblical examples as well as examples in contemporary times of individuals making a solemn vow or covenant with God (see examples below). This is not so much for God as it is for us, in order to put a ‘mark in the sand’  as a reminder and record of our commitment to our king, and His faithful commitment towards us.  As we follow their example of complete and total surrender, renewed resolve and total commitment, our confidence is boosted  as we hand over the expected outcome of our life to His never failing abilities and enter new realms of relationship with our Creator.

Rebecca Brown

Rebecca Brown (Author of the book "He came to set the captives free" ) said that the Lord spoke to her and desired her to make a covenant with Him. The terms of this covenant was first, to commit her life to God to be used in any way in which He chose... Secondly, she was to understand that such a commitment would carry a very high price to her career, family life, friends, and everything she held dear. But, God promised that He would be by her side and through it, He would reveal Himself to her in a deep and personal way which would not be possible through any other course of action in her life.

However, if she chose not to make this covenant with Him, He would still bless her but without that commitment she would not come to know God as personally and as closely as she would without following this course.

It was a tough decision that she anguished over, counting the cost as best she could as she knew without a doubt that once she made such a covenant, there would be no opportunity for backing out. When the going got rough, she could not change her mind. After much deliberation, she got down on her knees and made that covenant with the Lord, changing the course of her life forever.

John Ramirez

After being delivered from witchcraft,  John Ramirez (Ex satanic high priest and author of the book "Armed and Dangerous")  was so overwhelmed with how much God loved him in spite of everything he had done, that he made a commitment to God, surrendering his life to Him totally, vowing to serve Him instead of satan and making Jesus Lord over his entire life. He  then took a piece of paper, marking the date in 1999, and wrote a vow to the Lord promising to serve Him and to be fully surrendered to His will for the rest of his life. He became SOLD OUT to God  and vowed to be God’s prisoner for life and wanted no parole!

Example Covenant

This is to testify that I,  ___(Your Name)___   on this day  _____(date)_____  am entering into a binding covenant with Almighty God, and recommitting to making Jesus Christ the total master over every area of my life, including  _______(you can be specific as you like)_____,  so that He can use me in any way He chooses.  I trust and rely on His love for me to direct my life and bring to pass everything He has ordained for me.  I recognise this covenant is binding for the rest of my life and therefore ask the Holy Spirit to work in me and through me to help me to keep it.

Recommitment

Our first 'mountain moving' challenge therefore, is to complete an exercise in repentance by looking through the list below and  repenting of / disassociating ourselves completely from any sin (past or present) we can identify being involved with.  Then make a written and dated commitment of total surrender making Jesus Christ Lord and Master of your life.
